Softball: No.1 Greenbrier opens region vs. Richmond Hill

Greenbrier swept a double header Saturday at South Effingham to remain undefeated in region 2B-AAAA play. In the first game the Mustangs held a 4-2 lead over the Wolfpack going into the top of the seventh. Kirsten Titus lead off the inning with a pinch hit single and Taylor Dupree and Casey Rowland reached base to load them up. Senior starting pitcher Morgan Tickerhoof stepped to the plate and belted a long homerun over the centerfield fence to give the Wolfpack a 6-4 lead. The Wolfpack would add one more in the inning to take a 7-4 lead. In the bottom of the seventh two Mustangs reached base but Tickerhoof closed it out to earn her 13th victory on the year.
In the second game Casey Rowland hit her tenth homerun of the year to give Greenbrier (24-3, 9-0) an early 2-0 lead over South Effingham (17-9, 6-4). The Wolfpack held a 4-2 lead when play was stopped for a 2 hour rain delay. Freshman starting pitcher Kirsten Titus (11-0) pitched 7 innings to earn the win. Greenbrier played Effingham County Monday to finish out the regular season and opens the region playoffs against Richmond Hill on Friday.
