Basketball: Brookwood is new No. 1 in AAAAA girls poll

Eight of Brookwood’s 21 wis this season have come by at least 30 points.  The Lady Broncos (21-0) have wins over Class AAAA defending champion Southwest DeKalb and AAAA runner-up Northwest Whitfield and have been perched bear the top of the AAAAA girls basketball coaches poll for weeks.

After previous No. 1 Hillgrove lost three straight games last week,  Brookwood moved up from No. 2 to take the top spot in this week’s poll. Hillgrove dropped all the way to eighth while defensing state champion Norcross moved up from third to second. Bradwell Institute, the only other unbeaten team in the this week’s AAAAA poll at 22-0, moved up from fifth to third.

Chamblee bolstered its position as  No. 1 in Class AAAA after a win over previous No. 2 Redan, which dropped to fourth. Douglass County moved up to third.

The top five teams in Class AAA are unchanged, with Washington County and Dalton first and second.

Kendrick is No. 1 in AA again and Wesleyan holds down the top spot in Class A.
