Basketball: Wilkinson County boys jump to No. 1 in Class A poll

Wilkinson County emerged this week as the only undefeated team in the boys basketball coaches Class A poll. The Warriors improved to 21-0 and jumped from No. 2 to No. 1 in the poll this week. Whitefield Academy, last week’s No. 1, dropped to third after a loss on Jan. 29 to Greenville. Powered by the win, Greenville cracks the top 10 this week at No. 7.

The No. 1 teams in the four other classes all kept their top rankings this week.

Milton and Wheeler remained No. 1 and No. 2 respectively, in Class AAAAA. Jenkins made the biggest leap, jumping from No. 10 to No. 6.

The top four teams in Class AAAA are unchanged with Miller Grove at No. 1 and Sequoyah No. 2. Jonesboro is the only new team in the poll this week at No. 10.

Columbia is No. 1 in Class AAA again this week while West Hall jumped from fourth to second. Eagle’s Landing cracked the top 10 thiss week at No. 10.

In Class AA, Laney and South Atlanta are first and second again this week. Thomasville moved up from fifth to third.
