With one week before the end of the regular season, there are plenty of high school football games with playoff implications.

Here is a look at five of the top high school football games in Georgia in Class AAA this weekend:

No. 6 Hiram (8-0, 4-0 Region 7-AAAA) at No. 10 Sprayberry (6-2, 4-0): The winner earns the top seed in the region, the loser must earn a berth though a play-in game next weekend. The Hornets are playing for their first region title in the program’s 10-year history. Sprayberry is going for is third straight state playoff berth after making only one postseason in the previous 17 seasons.

No. 1 Griffin (8-0, 6-0 Region 4-AAAA) at Dutchtown (6-2, 4-2): The top-ranked Bears have allowed only 38 points all year and are going for their second undefeated regular season in the past 21 years. The Bulldogs, in their sixth season of football, already have set a record for wins and are trying to nail down the program’s first trip to the state playoffs.

No. 2 Westside Macon (8-0, 6-0 Region 1-AAAAA) at Thomas County Central (7-1, 6-0): The Yellow Jackets have been waiting for this one since getting embarrassed last season in Macon 51-0. Like last season, this one is for the top spot in the region. Both defenses are outstanding. The Seminoles have three shutouts and have held four opponents to seven points. Only two teams have scored more than a touchdown against the Yellow Jackets.

No. 3 Southwest DeKalb (7-1, 7-0 Region 6-AAAA) at No. 5 Tucker (7-1, 6-1): Southwest can clinch the top spot in the region with a win. Tucker, the defending AAAA state champs, can create a three-way tie for first with Southwest and Marist with a win. A loss relegates the Tigers to the No. 3 seed. The Panthers are led by running back Ken Malcome, a Georgia commit, and a defense that is allowing only eight points per game.

No. 7 Apalachee (8-0, 8-0 8-AAAA) at Madison County (5-3, 5-3): The Wildcats already have locked up the No. 1 seed from the region while the red Raiders are trying to break a four-team logjam for third place in the region. The Wildcats are having their best season in the program’s 10-year history.

Check back later this morning for previews on the top AAAAA games.
